Welcome 8th intake!

A new student intake started the Cartography Master programme. This year we are proud and happy to welcome 30 students from 19 different countries! The sun was shining the whole welcoming week and the new students enjoyed the presence of all partners, current students of the previous intakes and alumni a lot.

The Welcoming week was quite action-packed to prepare the students for their two years of studies. All partners introduced their universities and their role within the programme. Four keynotes were given on the cutting-edge topics such as “The digital future of our world demands cartography” or “Mapping inequality: cartography and sustainable development goals”. An intercultural training workshop was organized, where students discussed about their personal expectations and motivation. Newly admitted students also had a chance to try a typical Bavarian breakfast, they participated in a library tour and looked for everyday maps during the mapping challenge. They collected more than 160 different maps within the challenge question “Wow many maps are in my life?”. Additionally, the EMA representative from our programme, Armand Kapaj, introduced the association. The highlight of the week was a hiking trip from Schliersee to Tegernsee. This social event was perfect to get to know each other better.
