Congratulations to our M.Sc. students Dilara Bozkurt and Zhenjiang Li for being awarded the Ravenstein-Förderpreis 2023 in the category students.

Zhenjiang Li – Hokkien

Zhenjiang Li won with his project Hokkien – a 2.7m long map-like representation that illustrates the migratory path undertaken by Hokkien, a Chinese language commonly referred to as Minnan, Southern Min, Hoklo, Taiwanese, or Fukien across different regions worldwide. You can learn more about the project here and in the project-accompanying StoryMap.

Dilara Bozkurt – Native Wine Grapes of the Mediterranean Region

Dilara Bozkurt won with her hand-drawn map on Native Wine Grapes of the Mediterranean Region. You can learn more about it here.

Both winning projects were created within the class Project Map Creation in summer semester 2023.

The Ravenstein-Förderpreis, which is awarded annually, promotes young cartographic talents in German-speaking countries. This year’s award ceremony took place at Staatsbibliothek Unter den Linden Berlin.

Congratulations, Dilara and Zhenjiang!
