With a record participation of 21 students of the Master programme “Cartography” and 10 students of the TUD Master programme “Geoinformation Technologies” this year’s Alpine Cartography Field School has again been a highlight for the students and staff of both study programmes. As usual, the field school took place in the village of Ramsau am Dachstein (Austria) with excursions held in the surrounding high-alpine environment. For the first time, the studio of the German landscape artist Wolfgang Pusch was visited during the field school. Topics covered in the seven day course were – among others – panoramic landscape depictions, mental maps, navigation and orientation as well as mobile technologies. With additional interactive presentations given by the participating students the broad range of those topics brought together rather historic and modern aspects of cartography.
