The CartoMiners Game is an interactive Web mapping application designed to raise public awareness about mine sitting in Chalkidiki.
Besides the economic benefits, mining activities in this region have significantly impacted the human-ecology cycle: environmentally, socially and health-wise. The forests and agricultural areas have been destroyed, rivers (which serve as a source of water in these communities) have become unfit for drinking, wildlife species displaced and some villages destroyed due to the microseismic activities from the mines.
This project aims to reach an even larger audience in Greece and the International Community on the impact of sitting mines at certain locations.
