Maria Rühringer presented her master thesis at the Ecosystem Service Partnership Regional Europe conference

From the 15th until the 19th of October the Ecosystem Service Partnership Regional Europe conference 2018 took place in San Sebastián in Spain. Ecosystem Services express the interactions between humans and their natural environment and the assessment of those services is currently being carried out under the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2020. More than 400 scientists and stakeholders participated in the conference to exchange ideas and knowledge on how to express and utilize ecosystem services for a more sustainable future.

Within the conference session on Ecosystem Service Maps our alumni Maria Rühringer presented her master thesis research results on the use and user requirements of ecosystem service maps. In her research she applied a User-Centered Design approach to ecosystem service mapping by conducting a requirement analysis. She identified the needs and requirements of decision-makers using those maps. Her presentation was well received by the audience and aims to be an inspiration for future work on User-Centered Design in ecosystem service mapping.
